This exhibition celebrates the history of Concordia College, honoring the people, places, traditions, and stories that have shaped the institution since 1891. It was originally displayed in the Cyrus M. Running Gallery from Fall 2016 to Spring 2017. In the spring of 2019, the materials from the exhibit were utilized to create this digital exhibition.
A project of this magnitude takes a village to create, and we wish to thank the many who have contributed. Numerous students wrote and edited text, selected and scanned images, and designed exhibit components as part of the following courses: Museum Studies I (ART 356), Scandinavian Immigration and Settlement in America (HIST/SCAN 317), and Doing Digital History (HIST 325). These students are credited on the components they created. The remaining exhibit elements were created by the curatorial team with assistance from the student workers in the Concordia College Archives. There are also multiple people and campus offices that dedicated time, skill, and knowledge behind the scenes without whom this exhibit would not have come to fruition:
Lori Steedsman, Office of Communications, who designed the exhibit panels;
Perry Bushaw and Ted Anderson, who skillfully built the carpentry elements;
Facilities Management and Office of Communications who donated time and labor; and
The Concordia College Art Department and Gallery and the Carl B. Ylvisaker Library who funded the printing of exhibit component
As much as this exhibit celebrates the past, we also hope it provides a foundation upon which to hope for and dream about Concordia College’s future. Soli Deo Gloria. 125th Exhibit Curatorial Team: Lisa Sjoberg Joy Lintelman Susan Lee Corinne Burrell
